Travis Barker is proving his energy extends far beyond the stage. The legendary Blink-182 drummer has taken his passion for performance into running, creating his own event series called “Run Travis Run.”
Alongside that, he has brought a new edge to running culture, swapping polished athletic wear for a raw and authentic aesthetic.
From Stage to Streets
Earlier this year, Barker stepped into the racing world at the Big 5 Sporting Goods Los Angeles 5K. Clocking in at 22 minutes and 31 seconds, he averaged a quick 7:15 pace per mile and placed 95th out of more than 8,000 runners. The finish cemented his commitment to the sport and showed that his stamina doesn’t stop behind the drum kit.
Speaking on his growing love for the activity, Barker explained in an Instagram reel that running gives him freedom. He said there are no rules—just lace up and go. For him, it mirrors the rebellious energy of punk rock, where effort and spirit matter more than perfection.

Energy Fueled by Drumming
Barker’s running success didn’t appear out of nowhere. His high-intensity drumming career likely laid the foundation for his fitness. Known for his fast-paced, powerful performances, he often burns hundreds of calories during a show, with heart rates that can spike near 190 bpm.
He connects the two passions directly, saying both drumming and running push him into a flow state where the world disappears, leaving only rhythm and motion.
Building a Community on the Run

With “Run Travis Run,” Barker isn’t just chasing personal goals—he’s building a nationwide community. The series has already made stops in New Orleans, New York, and Los Angeles, with Chicago set to host the next event on September 20. His approach challenges stereotypes of the sport, proving that running isn’t reserved for traditional athletes but open to anyone willing to push their limits.
By combining his punk spirit with athletic grit, Barker is reshaping what running culture can look like. His events are attracting people who might not usually step into the running world, making it clear the sport welcomes all backgrounds. With more races planned, “Run Travis Run” is set to inspire countless fans to join in, one stride at a time.
